Dean lives near Lurgan, County Armagh where music is a major part of his life. He won the All Ireland Senior Piano Accordion title in Letterkenny (2005) and toured with Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann throughout Ireland (2006), Britain (2007) and America/Canada (2007).
Northern Box is Dean’s first solo recording and is a collection of tunes which reflect his musical journey from England to Ireland. He is joined on the CD by four other talented artists, Ryan Molloy (Piano), Michael Harrison (Fiddle), Daire McGeown (Banjo) and Fintan McManus (Bouzouki).
The spotlight is very firmly on the piano accordion on this release which is quite fresh and generally bouncy. Nice playing with the accompaniment allowing the 'box' to flourish. Well worth a listen if you are into accordions.
