Warning! This album is a highly irreverent take on the Irish Ballad and contains very strong language and adult humour.
Experience the music and merriment of Ireland's greatest bard. Not since the great rebel Napper Tandy puked in the handbag of the Lord Liuetenant's wife has there been as much laughter amongst patriots.
Gaze upon the countenance of a dreamer.. whose drink induced comas inspire his holy cause.
After a year and a half prison stretch in the 'Joy for doing a shite in a judges car one night, Ireland's greatest ballad singer, Ding Dong Denny O'Reilly, is back.
The man recently described by Liam Mackey as "More Dub than the Dubliners, more furious than the Fureys and the man who put the lad back into ballad".
He staggers the Earth to extoll those uniquely Irish virtues of drinking, puking, fighting and hatred.
"Me Da would say
'come on son, come on -
have a little drink with yer Da'".
About the artist
Ding Dong Denny O Reilly was conceived amidst the sound of bombs and gunfire, during The Battle Of The River Plate, which was on at the Savoy Cinemaat the time. That was forty odd years ago (and we mean Odd) and who would have guessed that a woman with almost ninety percent alcohol in her blood, a dose of rickets and scurvy, would give birth to any child let alone this legend. He had a rough childhood. Possessor of a moustache and beer belly at age nine, Ding Dong first discovered music in reform school aged eleven.
He has played in many musical outfits since: The Nazi Showband, popular folk group Wild Mountain Badger, New Kids In The Block (Irelands first Boy Band to be formed in a prison) and his most (in)famous of all: The Hairy Bowsies. Never realising that drinking every minute of every day was likely to slow his progress, Ding Dong hasn't achieved the following he deserves. But all that changed with the release of Publocked.
