The music of 'Viva' is inspired by Maria's love of the Spanish & Italian languages, their musicality and fecundity, and the poetry of Pablo Neruda. The music comes from her one-woman show of the same name and embodies simple, bare beauty and a dichotomy of strength and vulnerability, evoking the themes of love and loving, pain and passion, addiction and ecstasy, and destruction and redemption. Her powerful vocals combine effortlessly with raw sensuality and elegance, telling the stories of each vignette with poignancy, grace, and complete abandon.
